5 Activities From My Relationship Prep Workbook Everyone Should Do to Prepare for Postpartum

If you're here then congratulations on the new life you are bringing into this world! It is not an easy task but it is a great one.

If you are starting this workbook later in pregnancy, know that you can absolutely continue this work in postpartum. And you can do multiple pages each week, prenatally, if you are feeling motivated. I wish this type of preparation was more commonly talked about and I applaud your efforts to prepare.

I'm a licensed social worker and postpartum doula. In this book I bring in information from my own experience working with families, evidence based information from leading relationship researcher John Gottman, and other tools I have found along the way. I have a list of resources for continued work and education at the end of this book.

It is NORMAL for relationships to change throughout life.. When a baby joins the family your relationship will go through the biggest transition you may ever experience. You have to redefine roles, learn new skills, practice healthy communication, and more… all on minimal sleep. Postpartum is a wonderfully beautiful time to settle in and learn about your new baby and relearn about yourselves and your relationship in these new forms. I'm creating this workbook to help you practice and prepare your relationship for postpartum.

No matter where you and your partner are in your journey, find a journal to write in, carve out some time in your week, make a warm cup of tea, and dig in!

I’ve attached here the intro pages to the e-workbook to read, then following are then 5 activities from the book that everyone should do to prepare their relationship for postpartum. There are many more activities in the full workbook related to setting up a strong foundation, communication, expectations around sex, mental health, division of labor, and further resources such as books, websites, Instagrams, and crisis lines.

Click on any image to take you to the page to purchase this e-workbook if you’d like to complete the remaining activities.
